Birmingham City goalkeeper reveals he has been asked to leave club

Birmingham City’s Tomasz Kuszczak has revealed that he has been asked to leave the club this summer according to a report from Polish publication Przeglad Sportowy via Sports Mole.

There have been plenty of reports that Kuszczak was set to leave Birmingham. Recently it had been revealed that he was close to leaving back in the January transfer window with Premier League side Newcastle United as well as Sky Bet Championship rival Derby Country trying to sort out a deal to sign him. Recent reports have said that Leeds United are interested in him as well.

And any teams that are still interested in him will have had their ears perk up after comments Kuszczak made to the Polish press over the last week. He has revealed that the club have told him that he is free to leave the Blues this summer as their head coach Garry Monk looks to reshape the squad in his first summer in charge. And even though he struggled to break through into a struggling Championship’s team this year, Kuszczak only made 12 appearances, he is hoping to get a move back to the Premier League after this news.

This indicates that Monk is going to have a big reshaping of the squad this summer. Birmingham underwent this last year with previous head coach Harry Redknapp and it didn’t work out but with Monk having more experience of the Championship, the club are hoping that it will work out this time and that they will challenge for promotion like what was expected of them last year.
