Odds slashed on Arsenal to sign Stoke City star

Odds have been cut on Arsenal signing Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, with the England international priced at 7/2 to sign for the North London club with SkyBet.

Liverpool are still in the lead to sign the goalkeeper from Stoke City according to the markets with SkyBet with the Champions League finalists priced at 1/1 favourites to bring Butland to Merseyside during this summer.

It’s widely expected that Butland will not be remaining with Stoke City following their relegation into the Championship for this upcoming season, but his future has remained very heavily in question – with a number of suitors thought to be keen to bring the goalkeeper with them to the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with the goalkeeper, but they appear to have refocused their attention on Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio recently, which could suggest that a move to Molineux could be off for Butland, with Wolves priced at 5/1 to sign the goalkeeper.

Arsenal may be looking for a long-term goalkeeper under the leadership of new manager Unai Emery at the Emirates, following the fact that Arsene Wenger left the Premier League at the end of the season. Butland will be hoping to impress his range of suitors and feature at the World Cup in Russia in the coming weeks – to prove his worth and likely hefty price tag to a range of Premier League sides.

Whether it will turn into a two-horse race between Arsenal and Liverpool, we can’t be sure but by looking at the betting markets, it appears these two Premier League giants seem keen on the goalkeeper.
