Stoke City are in for TWO big strikers: Who are they?

Stoke City are in for two strikers, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The Potters are preparing for life in the Championship next season following their relegation from the Premier League. Their new manager, Gary Rowett, is looking to build a squad capable of an immediate return to the Premier League.

They are starting their recruitment from the front and are hoping to sign two strikers as they have money to spend. The big question is who are their two targets?

The72 reported earlier today that Stoke were in talks to sign Wolves striker Benik Afobe. Despite only joining the newly promoted Premier League side on a permanent basis last week for £10 million from Bournemouth, it now looks like he will make the move to the Potters for £12 million.

Afobe started his career at Arsenal but made his name during loan spells at MK Dons and Wolves. The Midlands side first snapped him up in 2015 and the 22 goals he scored in the 2015/16 season earned him a top flight move to Bournemouth.

However, Afobe fell down the pecking order with the Cherries and found himself back at Wolves last season on loan. He now looks to be staying in the Championship with Stoke City.

He is not the only striker who Rowett wants and he apparently also wants Derby County striker Matej Vydra, according to the Stoke Sentinal.  The prolific front man managed 22 goals under Rowett last season for the Rams and could now be set for the move to Stoke as well.

Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle is another striker who Stoke were linked with last month by the Daily Mail. The 28-year-old fired Newcastle United to promotion in 2017 by bagging 23 goals and could potentially be a player the Potters are looking to bring in.
