Marcelo Bielsa starts assembling backroom staff at Leeds United

Talks are currently ongoing in South America between the representatives of Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa, as the Yorkshire club try to convince the Argentinian manager to take charge at Elland Road.

Betting has been suspended on who will become the next manager of Leeds United, with Bielsa looking set to take charge in the coming days.

These rumours have been supported by reports coming out of Belgium today, which state that Marcelo Bielsa has already contacted the person he wants to be his assistant manager at Elland Road.

According to popular Belgian media outlet Voetbal Belgie (via Leeds Live), the Argentinian manager has contacted Jan Van Winckel, saying that he wants him to be his right hand man when he becomes the new manager of Leeds United.

Bielsa and Van Winckel worked together for a year at French top flight side Marseille, and the Argentinian is looking for a reunion at Elland Road.

Jan Van Winckel is currently the technical director of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, but is reported to be interested in joining Bielsa at Leeds.

Leeds United fans are beginning to get increasingly excited as a deal that will take Marcelo Bielsa edges ever closer.

Director of football Victor Orta is currently in South America holding talks with Bielsa over the vacant manager’s role at Elland Road.

The Whites have moved extremely quickly in approaching the Argentinian manager. It was only four days ago that Paul Heckingbottom lost his job, and the Yorkshire club have already confirmed that they expect to have a new manager in place by the end of the week.
