Fulham join race to sign £20m rated Norwich City midfielder

Fulham have joined the race to sign Norwich City’s James Maddison according to a report from The Mirror.

The 21-year-old midfielder signed for Norwich back in 2016 but suffered a slow start to life at Carrow Road. He wasn’t able to get into it straight away as part of the deal bringing him to the club meant he had to stay on loan with Coventry City until the end of the season. He then struggled to break into the first team the following season and would end up on loan at Aberdeen. But this season Maddison finally got his chance and boy did he take it, showing himself to be one of the best players in the Sky Bet Championship. He was voted as the 4th Best Player in the EFL in our Top 50 Players Countdown.

This form led to a lot of interest in him with teams such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham said to be in the chase for him. And Norwich seem willing to sell due to them not getting anymore parachute payments following their relegation in 2016, though the value of £30m that they demanded at first did see some interested parties cool off on their interest.

But Fulham are now looking to step in and sign Maddison. They believe that they could end up getting the talented midfielder for £20m and that pairing him up with their own star midfielder Tom Cairney could give them a real advantage over some of their rivals next season. But for a team that’s just got promoted that is a lot of money to spend and another team may be able to beat them to the signing.
