West Brom reject £4 million from Stoke City for winger

West Brom have turned down a £4 million bid from Stoke City for James McClean, according to the Express & Star.

The Baggies value the Republic of Ireland international at around £6 million. Premier League new boys Cardiff City are also reportedly keen on signing him as well.

The new Stoke City boss, Gary Rowett, tried to sign McClean for Derby County in January but the Rams also had a bid rejected by West Brom. He now wants to bring him to his new club Stoke City.

The Potters are keen to bolster their squad ahead of their Championship campaign. Rowett is hoping to guide them to an immediate return to the Premier League.

James McClean is an experienced winger and has played in the second tier before. He started his career in Ireland with Derry City and moved to England in 2011 to join Sunderland for around £350,000. He played for the Black Cats for two seasons before leaving them to join Wigan Athletic in 2013.

He played 86 games for the Latics before he was signed by West Brom in the Premier League for around £1.5 million. McClean has since become a key player for the Baggies but his long-term future there has been in doubt after their relegation from the Premier League last season.

McClean would be a good signing for Stoke City but it is yet to be seen whether they are willing to fork out £6 million to sign him.
