Cardiff City are interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Robert Snodgrass, according to a report from Wales Online.
The Scotland international spent the season on loan at Sky Bet Championship side Aston Villa, but failed to help the Midlands side to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
Villa were beaten 1-0 by Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final, and have been condemned to another season in the second tier of English football.
Steve Bruce had previously confirmed that he had hoped to secure the signing of Robert Snodgrass on a permanent basis, but failure to reach the top flight will have dented his hopes dramatically, and the Scotsman will now return to West Ham to discuss his future.
It appeared that Snodgrass had a future at West Ham when David Moyes was in charge, with the Scottish manager stating that he intended to give the 30-year-old another chance to impress.
However, Moyes was sacked, and has been replaced by former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, and it remains to be seen whether or not the Premier League winning manager sees Snodgrass as part of his plans.
If Pellegrini does see Snodgrass as surplus to requirements, it seems that Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock will be happy to take him off his hands.
Warnock worked with the midfielder during his time at Leeds United and is believed to be keen to pay the £12 million fee in order to bring the midfielder to the Welsh side as he looks for experienced players to strengthen his squad.
