Peterborough United fans react to capture of League Two striker

Earlier today, the72 reported that Peterborough United had confirmed the signing of Stevenage striker Matt Godden.

The 26-year-old striker has signed a three year deal at the ABAX Stadium after joining the club for an undisclosed fee.

He becomes the sixth signing by the Cambridgeshire club already this summer, as Steve Evans attempts to stamp his mark on the squad.

The former Leeds United and Rotherham United manager joined the club in March, and after failing to help the Posh reach the Play-Offs, it is a crucial summer for him, with Peterborough fans demanding a better campaign next time round.

Posh fans have always been a difficult bunch to please, and the jury is very much still out for Steve Evans, despite him bringing six new players into the club.

As usual, the Peterborough United fans were quick to take to Twitter after chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed that the club had signed Matt Godden.

Here is a look at what some of their supporters had to say:

This Peterborough United fan does not see Godden as anything more than a squad player, and with age not particularly on his side, he cannot see any room for improvement.

This supporter remains optimistic that Sky Bet League One golden boot winner Jack Marriott will stay at the club, and will form a partnership up front with Matt Godden.

“He could do fairly well,” is as optimistic as this Peterborough United fan is getting.

Some Posh fans are not willing to get too excited over the signing, but he has still sent credit to Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony.
