Leeds United’s hopes of landing Danish defender not over just yet

Leeds United’s hopes of signing Union Berlin defender Kristian Pedersen may not be over just yet according to reports by Birmingham Live.

The 23-year-old Ringsted born left-back is thought to be close to signing for The Whites’ Sky Bet Championship rivals Birmingham City, although the deal is yet to be finalised.

Latest reports from Pedersen’s current club have indicated that a deal with Birmingham City is not yet ready to be signed and sealed and fellow admirers Leeds United’s hopes of a late swoop for the defender may not be over.

Pedersen is thought to have a £2.2 million automatic release clause written into his contract at the Stadion An der Alten. Birmingham City are believed to have submitted a transfer offer which meets this valuation, although the deal seems to have been held up in the last 48 hours.

The full-back has spent the last two seasons in 2.Bundesliga with Union Berlin after signing for the club from Danish outfit HB Koge. The player has been a regular for The Iron Ones this season, making 33 appearances for the club in all competitions and scoring one goal in a 2-1 home win over SV Sandhausen.

Pedersen has one year remaining on his current deal with Union Berlin and the club are keen to hold onto the player following an impressive second campaign with the club.
