Stoke winger undergoes Huddersfield medical

Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi is undergoing a medical ahead of his proposed move to Premier League side Huddersfield Town.

Earlier today, the Egyptian Football Association confirmed that Sobhi is having a series of examinations ahead of a move to Huddersfield via Twitter.

The 21-year-old has spent the past two seasons at the bet365 Stadium, after signing from El Ahly Cairo for £4.5 million in July 2016.

Sobhi is the latest name to depart Stoke following their relegation to the Sky Bet Championship last month, with many more expected during the summer.

Huddersfield’s expected new signing was an integral part of the Potters’ side last season, featuring 27 times and scoring three goals in all competitions.

The left-winger has made 46 appearances for the Potters during his time there; on Boxing Day 2017, Sobhi coincidentally scored for Stoke against Huddersfield at his prospective new home inside the John Smith’s Stadium.

In April, it seemed to be clear that Sobhi would likely move on from Stoke, with the Stoke Sentinel quoting his agent, Nader Shawky who’d said “I have four offers from Premier League clubs for Ramadan”.

Transfermarkt currently rate Sobhi at £7 million, but no suggested fee for a move to Huddersfield has been reported so far.

Sobhi is currently with the Egyptian national side for their preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, which starts later this month.

The Pharaohs have currently released a 29-man preliminary squad ahead of the competition, which Sobhi is a part of.

He featured for his country yesterday during a World Cup warm-up match against fellow qualified side Colombia, which ended in a goalless draw.

Egypt have been drawn in Group A, where they will face in Uruguay in their opening match, before taking on hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia in their other two group fixtures.
