Nottingham Forest in talks with Benfica duo

Nottingham Forest are in talks with Benfica’s Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves according to a report from the Nottingham Post.

After Forest suffered another disappointing season where they failed to challenge for promotion, head coach Aitor Karanka is looking to reshape the squad so they can finally return to the Premier League. And instead of looking at targets just in the EFL, Karanka is looking further field and is looking at talent in Portugal. After all, signing players from that nation worked out very well for Wolves.

And they are already talking to two players who could soon make the switch to the East Midlands. Both Carvalho and Goncalves have been part of the Benfica set-up for a while now and have started to make the break through into the first team. Carvalho may already be familiar to some of you as he has been linked to a move to the Sky Bet Championship before with Wolves and Leeds United being interested in him before. The 21-year-old winger is also a regular for the Portugal U21s. Goncalves is less known but he has a similar reputation as a 21-year-old forward who has been breaking through recently.

And Forest are hoping that they can bring both of them to the City Ground in the coming weeks. And they are willing to either sign them on loan or on a permanent deal to make sure that they end up with them soon. And with the way Portuguese players suited Wolves last season, it could end up being a fantastic move for them.
