Guardiola, Pochettino, Batistuta – Incredible words on Leeds’ potential new manager

There are few people in football who don’t listen when Pep Guardiola speaks. I wasn’t particularly impressed with him when he first arrived in England I must admit, for me he had inherited two of the best squads in Europe but he didn’t at City, what he did with the players he had and has signed is quite brilliant, and he says Marcelo Bielsa is the best coach in the world.

Pep Guardiola calling Bielsa the best coach in the world is something else really, bearing in mind that he is now considered the best coach on the planet himself currently. Bielsa’s 3-3-1-3 formation is bonkers but we’ve tried everything else to get out of this league. We’ve tried young English, experienced English, young foreign, unknown foreign and unknown English and all have failed, now we look to be going for vast experienced and foreign in fact he doesn’t even speak English.

Mauricio Pochettino has also called Bielsa one of the best managers in the World, a coach who has transformed Tottenham Hotspur and is one of the favourites for the current Real Madrid vacancy. He has also described Bielsa as a “father figure” to him in football and isn’t something a man says lightly. Pochettino was part of Bielsa’s Argentina team in the early 2000’s along with many other superstars and they all seem to have so much respect for him.

One of my favourite and most iconic players growing up was Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta and the forward has described Bielsa as “the most important” coach in his career. If there endorsements aren’t enough to convince people this is a chance worth taking then I don’t know what it. He had his struggles at Lazio and Lille but Leeds United is an altogether different, and probably the biggest challenge. There is no illusions, he is joining a Championship side.

A deal for Bielsa is huge for Leeds United, not just in the Championship but all over the world really. If Andrea Radrizzani wants to put Leeds United back on the map then this is the sort of the thing to do. Whether Leeds can really convince him to come once he sees the current situation I don’t yet know but it seems to be very possible. Yesterday we woke up with Paul Heckingbottom in charge and today we are trying to secure a deal for the ex-Argentina manager.
