Leeds United

Leeds progress with Bielsa “good way down the line” according to “contacts in Spain”

If the reports coming from abroad are true then Leeds United are some way to trying to secure a deal for Marcelo Bielsa. The more this story develops and seemingly becomes closer the more unrealistic it seems.

If there was ever a source that made sure they didn’t say things without substance it is Phil Hay. His contacts in Spain may not necessarily be correct but clearly something is going on with Bielsa. If the club did manage to pull a deal like this off it would send shockwaves around England but I just can’t see how this deal would work. Bielsa is such a high-profile manager that Leeds would need to give him the players because one thing we do know is that he is very unpredictable.

He walked out of his job at Lazio after just a few days and the way he ended things at his most recent job at Lille wasn’t exactly great. There has to be promises if there is a deal to happen and those promises have to be kept otherwise he would just blatantly walk. The players currently at Leeds simply aren’t good enough, you could name on one hand players who could play at the top end of this league and even some of them are debatable after last season.

The links to Claudio Ranieri have dwindled massively and it does make you think that this could be a similar situation but with what has been said by Phil Hay and Adam Pope it really makes you wonder what is actually going on. There have been more reports in Argentina tonight that the deal is only waiting on international clearance and I guess you just never know in football. This weekend will hopefully see some development and maybe the unthinkable can happen.
