Leeds United remain the favourites to sign Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott, according to odds given out by bookmakers Bet Victor.
The Yorkshire club are currently given odds of 4/1 to sign Marriott, who shone in Sky Bet League One this season, scoring 27 goals on his way to winning the division’s golden boot.
His performances this season were not enough to help Peterborough into the Play-Offs, and because of that he is expected to leave the club this summer.
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has placed a £6.5million price tag on his prize asset, something which may potentially deter certain clubs in the second tier.
Marriott was linked with a move to a number of different Sky Bet Championship clubs in January, and Posh even confirmed they had turned down bids for their front man as they did not meet their valuation of him.
But Posh manager Steve Evans has confirmed that although he is desperate to keep hold of the club’s top goal scorer, he expects him to leave this summer as he is destined for bigger and better things.
Nottingham Forest are another club who have been linked strongly with a move for Marriott, and they have also been given odds of 4/1.
Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are also listed as outsiders, and they have been given odds of 5/1 and 6/1 respectively.
It is no secret that Leeds United are on the lookout for a new striker this summer following last season’s failings, and Marriott could be exactly what they are looking for.
