Traore, Middlesbrough star set to be subject of Newcastle United bid

Middlesbrough star set to be subject of Newcastle United bid

Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore is set to be the subject of a bid from Newcastle United according to a report from the Yorkshire Post.

While Middlesbrough ended up missing out on promotion after they were beaten by Aston Villa in the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-finals, they did have some players who performed well throughout the season. One of those players was Traore. He was signed in 2016 for their season in the Premier League and decided to stay with the club even when they were relegated to the Championship. This ended up being great news for Middlesbrough as he was a star player for them with him registering good enough performances to be voted as the 3rd Best Player in the EFL on our Top 50 Players countdown.

But with Middlesbrough not getting promoted, they risk losing Traore. He is a quality player and it is fair to say that he should be in the Premier League and it’s doubtful that he will spend another year in the Championship. Middlesbrough are prepared for this and are looking to get as much money as possible for him so they can use that cash to rebuild their squad in the summer.

But they might not be happy with selling him to the team that’s being reported to be interested in him. Newcastle are the side that are looking to sign Traore and they seem willing to pay up the £15m valuation placed on him. However Middlesbrough may not want to sell him to one of their most fierce rivals when other offers might be on table.
