Fiorentina midfielder rejects Aston Villa after they fail to get promoted

Fiorentina’s Milan Badelj has turned down a move to Aston Villa following their failure to get promoted according to a report from Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web.

With Aston Villa being just ninety minutes away from being promoted, they were looking to find players who can be important for them in the Premier League. One of the players that came up was Badelj. The 29-year-old midfielder is coming off the back of a solid season with Fiorentina where he made 27 appearances. During that playing time he was able to score twice and make one assist. This was enough to earn him a call up for Croatia for the World Cup this summer in Russia.

But things did not go well for Villa at Wembley. They ended up losing 1-0 to Fulham and they will be spending another season in the Sky Bet Championship because of it. And that will affect many of the transfer deals they wanted to make which includes the one for Badelj. This deal has now fallen through because the Croatian would rather stay in Florence if he’s not getting a move to the Premier League.

The report describes a bigger problem that Aston Villa are going to have this summer. This report says that because of their loss on Saturday they have lost a lot of appeal which may mean they struggle to sign new players. And with a number of their key players set to leave this summer and getting replacements being very important, that could become a massive problem this summer.
