Celtic set to beat Liverpool to signing of in-demand Championship forward

A close friend of Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew has stated that Celtic and Liverpool are interested in signing the 26-year-old. Speaking to Onua FM (Daily Record report), Nana Oduro Sarfo has revealed the level of interest in Ayew following relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.

Sarfo is the director of football at Berekum Chelsea, who are based in Ghana, where Ayew was born, and has suggested that he is very likely to leave the Swans after dropping out of the Premier League. The club are still looking to appoint a new manager, with Graham Potter of Ostersunds said to be the frontrunner.

Liverpool may have reached the UEFA Champions League Final, only to lose to Spanish giants Real Madrid, Sarfo understands that it could be North of the Border where Ayew plies his trade next season,

“Jordan has had several offers after Swansea City’s relegation last season. He will surely not play in the Championship with them.

“Liverpool have shown interest in him but Scottish side Celtic and their coach seem to be serious with their interest.

“I believe he may go to Scotland looking at how events are unfolding since they want to meet every demand.

“They speak English just like in England so he can express himself well in there and meet the expectations in the league.”

Ayew made the move to the Liberty Stadium for £5million from Aston Villa in January 2017. He currently plays alongside brother Andre, another forward with the Welsh side. He has made over 50 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals in the top flight. However, he still believes he can play at the highest level, so Swans fans best prepare themselves to wave goodbye.
