Middlesbrough target Bristol City centre-back

According to Gazette Live, Middlesbrough are taking a ‘close look’ at Bristol City centre-back Aden Flint.

Middlesbrough are amongst a host of Championship clubs who are interested in acquiring the services of Aden Flint. Flint had a topsy-turvy campaign last time out, getting to the Carabao Cup semi-final, falling just short of the Play Offs, as well as scoring a league high eight goals for a defender.

Flint is an experienced head, and would be a welcome addition to Tony Pulis’ side. The 28-year old has been a stalwart in City’s side for the last five seasons and is seen as a fan favourite.

Bristol City will be looking to make another push for a top-six place having just missed out in the 2017/18 season. In order to do this, they will need to keep hold of their best players.

The rumoured asking price for the 28-year old is between £5 million and £8 million. A club of Middlesbrough’s stature could certainly afford a bid of this worth to secure his signature.

Flint was rumoured to be unsettled at Ashton Gate at the start of last season, and was linked with a move away from the club. He had talks with Birmingham City, but nothing came to fruition due to the high asking price.

With Middlesbrough linked to the 6 foot 6 inch centre-half, it could mean that Ben Gibson will be exiting the club. Gibson has been linked with a move to Southampton in this window amongst other clubs, and could be on his way out.

Aden Flint would more than fill the void, and could be a good bit of business, considering Boro have put an asking price of £20 million on Ben Gibson.
