Leeds United fans don’t wait Toulon for defender England debut

Leeds United are a club renowned for producing young talent. From James Milner who will line up for Liverpool tonight in the Champions League final to Fabian Delph who made the England squad for the World Cup in Russia, homegrown Leeds United players are everywhere.

Milner and Delph aren’t the only ones of potential and talent that have come through the Thorp Arch academy system and impressed enough to make the first team, or move to pastures new. Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor earned Premier League moves to West Ham and the first team squad at Elland Road bristles with the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and the returning Lewie Coyle.

Now Leeds United fans can add another success story to the Thorp Arch – Tom Pearce. towards the back-end of last season, the young left-back came in to the side and continued his exciting progression from the Under-23s. He scored his début first-team goal against Barnsley, his successes earning him a call-up to the England Under-21 squad and the Toulon Tournament.

It was England’s first game today, the Young Lions facing China, and Leeds United fans didn’t have to wait long for Pearce to make his bow.

Pearce’s début international appearance has come at a time when the youngster’s contract at Elland Road is winding down. It is thought that the Whites were thinking of letting him go this summer, until his consistent and accomplished performances at the end of the 2017/18 Championship campaign forced a rethought.

Currently club and player are involved in contract talks with Leeds United fans hoping that the talented youngster agrees a new deal.
