Former Wolves and Stoke boss favourite for Scottish job

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City manager Paul Lambert is the bookies’ favourite to become the next manager of Scottish side St Mirren.

St Mirren have just won the Scottish Championship, meaning they will be playing top flight football next season, but they are current on the search for a new manager.

The reason for this is because their former boss, Jack Ross, has just completed a move south of the border to join recently relegated Sunderland.

And it seems that Paul Lambert is the man that St Mirren want to replace Ross, with Bet Victor giving him odds of 3/1 to take over at The Buddies.

Lambert has been out of a job since he left Stoke City by ‘mutual agreement’ earlier this month. The 48-year-old Scottish manager had been tasked with the job of keeping the Potters in the Premier League, but failed to do so and consequently finds himself without a job.

Stoke have already appointed a new manager, with former Derby County and Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett taking over at the Bet365 Stadium, and it seems Lambert could soon follow suit by finding himself a new job.

Paul Lambert is extremely well known to the older generation of St Mirren fans after coming through the youth set-up there. He made his debut for the Scottish club back in 1986, and went on to play 226 games for the side. In his time at St Mirren, he scored 14 goals before moving to Motherwell in September 1993 for a fee of £250,000.
