Ipswich Town fans react to missing out on managerial target

It had seemed for a number of weeks that St Mirren manager Jack Ross was going to take over at Portman Road and become the Tractor Boys’ new manager, but the Scottish boss was today appointed as manager of Sunderland.

The Black Cats have just suffered relegation to Sky Bet League One, and will play third tier football for just the second time in their history.

Jack Ross’ impressive season in Scotland had led to plenty of interest from English sides, but it appears that Ipswich Town decided not to appoint Ross as they hold out and wait for Paul Hurst.

Paul Hurst is with his current side Shrewsbury Town preparing for the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final against Rotherham United, and has said he will wait until after Sunday’s (May 27) game before he makes any comments on his future.

The potential of bringing Jack Ross into Ipswich Town had excited many supporters of the Suffolk club, but now they will have to hold their breath and wait to see what happens with Paul Hurst.

Here is a look at how some Ipswich Town fans reacted to the news that Jack Ross had moved to Sunderland:

This Ipswich fan is worried that the club may regret not appointing Jack Ross.

This supporter feels that it was risky not to get Ross in when the club had the chance.

Technically Ipswich have sacrificed Jack Ross in an attempt to get in Paul Hurst, and this fan recognises the importance of ensuring the club can get hold of Hurst.

This supporter is not too fussed to miss out on Ross and feels that Hurst is the more suitable candidate anyway.
