Leeds United links with Italian legend are untrue

Earlier today, reports from Italy had suggested that former Juventus and AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi had been the subject of interest from Leeds United, who had reportedly had been in touch with the Italian’s representatives over taking over at Elland Road.

Italian publication Corriere Di Bologna said that although Inzaghi is currently favourite to take over at Serie A side Bologna, there is also interest from his former club Parma, as well as Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United.

However, these reports from Italy have been rubbished by the Yorkshire Evening Post, who have stated that their is no truth behind them, and that there has been no contact between Leeds United and Filippo Inzaghi’s representatives.

Inzaghi is currently in charge at Italian Serie B side Filippo Inzaghi, and has led them to the Play-Offs in the second tier of Italian Football. This has led to interest from top flight sides such as Bologna, and Inzaghi is odds on favourite to take charge of the team that finished 15th in Serie A this season.

Prior to his time at Venezia, the Italian manager was in charge of former club AC Milan.

Filippo Inzaghi enjoyed a decorated playing career, playing for some of the biggest teams in Italian football before hanging up his boots back in 2012.

The Italian ended his career with AC Milan after 11 years at the club. During his time as a player at the San Siro, he played over 200 games, scoring 73 goals including two in the 2007 Champions League Final victory over Liverpool.
