Leeds face competition from Man United for Blackburn Rovers youngster

Leeds United are among a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs who have been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers young talent Jake Garrett.

Derby County and Fulham are also both said to be interested in bringing the versatile defender to their clubs, but they all face stiff competition from Premier League sides.

Manchester United are said to be interested in acquiring Garrett’s signature, with Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Watford all also reportedly interested, according to ESPN.

Jake Garrett is tipped to have a big future, and is highly rated in the youth set-up at Ewood Park, despite being just 15.

He has featured regularly for the Under 18 side this season, and is also part of the England schoolboy squad.

Clearly, Garrett is one for the future rather than the present, but he could prove to be a great addition to whoever does acquire his signature.

Blackburn Rovers have just earned promotion from Sky Bet League One as runners-up, meaning they will be playing second tier football next season against the likes of Derby County and Leeds United.

Because of this, the chances of Garrett making the move to one of these clubs could be smaller, however Leeds in particular are working hard on their youth sides.

Instead of moving to a fellow second tier side, the 15-year-old may be tempted away by a side from the Premier League. If Manchester United are as interested as reports suggest they are, it may be hard for the youngster to say no to a move to one of the biggest clubs in world football.
