Stoke City rival European duo to sign ‘new Mohamed Salah’

The Sun understands that Stoke City are interested in signing Al Ahly winger Mahmoud Saber. The Egyptian forward, aged only 16, is being deemed as the ‘new Mohamed Salah’. However, both Ajax and Valencia are keen on the youngster as well.

Stoke recently appointed Gary Rowett to the job at the bet365 Stadium. Whilst he would love to add the actual Mohamed Salah to his ranks, Jurgen Klopp probably has something to say about that! However, they are hoping to sign the next best thing, with Saber impressing those on the continent.

Saber is viewed as one of the hottest prospects in North African football. Several European giants have had their eye on the player, but Ajax and Valencia are keen, especially with those known for giving youngsters a chance. Stoke have targeted a different brand of player in recent seasons, and Saber fits that bill just nicely.

He has made a devastating impact in the Egyptian Under-16 division, leading to many scouts recommending his name as being a future star in the making, even comparing him to Salah, who participates in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League Final for Liverpool against Real Madrid in Kyiv.

It would be fair to say that the Egyptian Under-16 league is a world of difference to the Sky Bet Championship! Nevertheless, he possibly isn’t ready for first-team football just yet, and could instead feature in the younger age groups at his next potential club. Ajax are certainly known for promoting players from within, even at a very young age. That may give them an edge in the race, but financially, Stoke could outbid them all, even after relegation.
