Nottingham Forest and Sunderland chasing Scunthorpe winger

A host of Championship and League One clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Sunderland, are looking to sign Scunthorpe winger Habeeb Adelakun, according to HITC Sport.

Adelakun is out of contract at Glanford Park next month, and he is yet to sign a new deal with the club.

The winger could leave the club on a free, which makes him one of the most sought after properties in the market this window.

He has been at the club since 2012, and if he did decide to leave Scunthorpe, they would be due a small compensation fee.

Scunthorpe have had an impressive season in the third tier and made the playoff semi finals, but lost out to Rotherham United.

Adelakun’s form has been an integral part of the Iron’s form this campaign, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed by other teams around the Football League.

Sunderland will be aiming for an instant return to the Championship and the signing of Adelakun would go a long way in helping the club secure promotion at the first time of asking.

The Black Cats reportedly tried to sign the Scuthorpe man in the January transfer window, but they failed in their attempts and suffered back to back relegations.

Aitor Karanka will be looking to craft a Forest squad in his image next season, in the hope of mounting a promotion push.

Forest struggled for goals last season and Adelakun would help cure the goalscoring crisis at the City Ground next campaign.

With the winger’s future up in the air, Scunthorpe will face a fight to keep their man. It is certain that he won’t be short of offers this summer.
