Portsmouth snap up 13-goal National League starlet

Portsmouth have announced the signing of midfielder Louis Dennis on their official club website.

He has moved to Fratton Park on a free transfer after leaving non-league side Bromley at the end of the season. Dennis impressed for Bromley and was named in the National League Team of the Season.

The 25-year-old midfielder spent five seasons at Bromley and played over 150 games for the Greater London outfit. He caught the eye of Portsmouth after scoring 13 goals this season.

Dennis started his career at Dagenham and Redbridge but struggled to break into their first-team as a youngster. He gained experience playing senior football during loan spells at Bedfont Town, Welling United, Grays Athletic, Hayes and Yeading United and Canvey Island.

He then left Dagenham on a permanent deal in 2013 to join Bromley. He was a key player for them when they were promoted from the National League South in the 2014/15 season and has since help establish them as a fifth tier side. Dennis also helped Bromley get to the FA Vase Trophy final this season, however they lost at Wembley to Brackley Town.

The future looks bright for Dennis and he will be looking to push on into Portsmouth’s first-team and adapt to the step up from the National League to League One. Pompey have been busy bolstering their squad ahead of next season and have also signed promising forward Ronan Curtis from Derry City.
