Nottingham Forest set to pay release clause for Greek forward

According to SDNA, Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Apollon forward Christos Albanis. The player netted 8 goals in 29 appearances last season in Apollon’s first season back in the Greek Super League following promotion.

AEK Athens were also touted as a possible destination for the player, but the Sky Bet Championship club are set to swoop for the player. Nottingham Forest have made signing players to boost their attacking line as their priority this summer. Scoring goals was an issue last season. Their top scorer was attacking midfielder Kieran Dowell, who has returned to Everton following the conclusion of his season-long loan.

SDNA also recently reported that Nottingham Forest are likely to lose one of their strikers to the Greek Super League, as Apostolos Vellios was heavily mentioned as heading for Olympiakos this summer. Forest are of course owed by Evangelos Marinakis, who holds a similar association with the Greek giants.

Albanis, aged 23, supposedly has a release clause in his contract at the Georgios Kamaras Stadium that is worth approximately £500,000. With the Championship club happy to pay this, and also gives him a salary of £300,000, he is primed to become their first signing ahead of next season at the City Ground. Albanis has caps for the Greek Under-21 side, and has spent his entire professional career with Apollon. The player played a key role in ensuring his side ensured survival, finishing seven points above the relegation zone in the Greek top flight. The video below will give Nottingham Forest fans an insight into the striker who is supposedly set to join your club.
