Reading chasing Czech striker

Reading are lining up a move from Czech Republic striker Michael Krmencik, according to HTIC Sport.

A lack of goals where a factor in the Royals dismal season in the Championship, and Paul Clement has lined up a number of strikers in order to solve the striking crisis.

They were the third lowest scorers in the league this season, only behind Burton Albion and Bolton Wanderers.

The Royals will be hoping for a better return in front of goal next campaign in a bid to fire themselves up the League.

Reading only secured their Championship status on the final day, with a 0-0 draw against Cardiff in the Welsh capital enough to save Clement’s side from the drop.

Krmencik plies his trade in his native country of Czech Republic with Viktoria Plzen.

The striker has played 43 times for his boyhood club, scoring on 19 occasions.

The striker has caught the eye of the Reading recruitment staff in the past couple of seasons, and Clement believes he could be the answer to the goalscoring woes at the Madejski Stadium.

The centre forward has an impressive scoring rate for his country since making his debut in 2016.

He has found the back of the net on 7 occasions in 13 appearances for Czech Republic and has been a regular in his National squad.

It is understood that Paul Clement watched the striker and weekend’s win over FK Teplice and his performance impressed the former Swansea boss.

Reading will be hoping to strike a deal with the Czech striker, in the hope he can be the main man at the forefront of the Royals attack next season.
