Bolton Wanderers take Woking defender on trial

Bolton Wanderers have taken Woking defender Nathan Ralph on trial, according to the journalist Pete O’Rourke on Twitter.

The 25-year-old left-back has been in impressive for Woking in the National League this season and is hoping for a move to the Football League in the summer.

Ralph will try and impress Championship side Bolton Wanderers on trial. The Trotters will be playing the second tier next season again after staying up in dramatic fashion on the last day of the campaign against Nottingham Forest.

Their manager, Phil Parkinson, is already plotting summer targets in preparation for next season and is keen to bolster his defensive options to avoid leaking so many goals. Nathan Ralph is a player he will take a look at.

Ralph played for Ipswich Town and Peterborough United as a youngster. He was sold by the Posh after a loan spell in non-league at Kettering Town to Yeovil Town in 2012. He played for the Glovers for three years and helped get promotion to the Championship in his first season at the club.

He was released by Yeovil in 2015 and joined Newport County on a free transfer. However, he never made a senior appearance for Newport and was loaned out to Aldershot Town before being released in 2016. He subsequently joined Woking and has been there ever since.

Ralph has had drop into non-league in order to work his way back up the football pyramid and will now have a chance to impress Bolton Wanderers.
