Hull City midfielder close to move to Swedish giants

Hull City midfielder Seb Larsson is close to agreeing a move to AIK, according to the Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet.

The experienced central midfielder’s contract with Championship side Hull City expires next month meaning is he available for free. Despite the Tigers offering him a new deal, it looks increasingly likely that he will be moving on from the KCOM Stadium.

Larsson joined Hull last summer on a free transfer from Sunderland and signed a one-year deal. He has impressed for them in the Championship this season and has played 40 games. Hull fans are hoping that he signs a new contract but may have to resign to losing him.

Swedish Allsvenskan giants AIK are keen on bringing Larsson back to his native country. The Stockholm-based side are apparently close to agreeing a move for him.

Larsson has made 98 caps for Sweden and is going to the World Cup this summer in Russia. He is an experienced midfielder and moved to England in 2001 to join Arsenal from IFK Eskilstuna. Spells at Birmingham City, Sunderland and Hull City have followed for him but he looks to complete the full cycle of his career with a move back to Sweden this summer.

For Hull City, Larsson’s likely departure will be a another big blow to Nigel Adkin’s side who are facing a battle in tying their out-of-contract players on new deals. Abel Hernandez, Michael Dawson, Moses Odubajo and Max Clark are also likely to leave.
