Norwich City plot summer deal for German top scorer

The Pink Un Reports that Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City are keen on signing St Pauli striker Marvin Ducksch. The 24-year-old was the top scorer in 2. Bundesliga last season, the second-tier of German football, whilst on loan at Holstein Kiel.

Ducksch played a major role in helping Kiel produce an impressive season, almost winning back-to-back promotions into the Bundesliga, then losing to Wolfsburg in a promotion/relegation play-off over two legs. Norwich head coach Daniel Farke is looking to boost his forward line, after goals proved hard to come by last season, as the Canaries finished in mid-table.

Farke has said that signing a new forward is his number one priority this summer. The German market is one which he has focused on more than once since taking charge of the club last summer. Ducksch is now back at St Pauli following the expiration of his season-long loan, but his reputation has undoubtedly increased. With only a year left on his current deal, his parent club may look to cash in whilst they can.

As mentioned, Norwich believe the German market is one which can benefit them. The likes of Mario Vrancic, Christoph Zimmermann, Onel Hernandez and Dennis Srbeny have all moved to Carrow Road from across the continent.

An interesting sub plot is this is that Ducksch began his career coming through the ranks at Borussia Dortmund, during which Farke was also on the coaching staff with the German giants at the time. Ducksch move to Kiel last January, helping them win promotion, before joining again the following summer, proving he can indeed cut it at a higher level.
