Championship chairman ‘will not entertain’ any offers for manager

Speaking to the official club website, Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson has issued a hands-off warning to other clubs interested in manager Phil Parkinson. Some reports had materialised saying that managerless Sunderland wanted to speak to the former Bradford City boss regarding their vacancy.

Parkinson is rated as a 12/1 shot with Sky Bet to become the permanent successor to Chris Coleman at the Stadium of Light. However, it is believed that Parkinson himself is already busy making preparations for life in the Sky Bet Championship next season with Bolton, following their final day of the season escape from relegation.

Several clubs in the EFL are searching for a new manager ahead of next season, including Parkinson’s former club Bradford.

Anderson, who also said that Parkinson is speaking with out of contract players at the Macron Stadium, says Parkinson is under contract and they do not want him to go,

“What I will say is that Phil is under contract with Bolton Wanderers Football Club and he is the right man for the job in hand.

We will not entertain any enquiries for him whatsoever and hopefully the size of any potential compensation package would be sufficient to dissuade any approaches.

Although there is not much football to occupy us during these summer months, staff at the club and hotel are working hard as usual so that we are all ready for the new season.”

The Bolton News understands that Parkinson signed a one-year rolling deal with the club last season.
