Aston Villa fan Prince William on if he’ll attend the Championship Play-Off Final

Days after attending the wedding of his brother at Windsor Castle, Aston Villa supporter Prince William says that he is hoping to be at Wembley this weekend to watch his beloved team take on Fulham in the Championship Play-Off Final.

Speaking on his latest Royal appointment, William made contact with a youngster, who happened to also be a Villa fan. Speaking to the child, the second in line to the British throne, is trying to make arrangements to be at the national stadium and hopefully cheer Aston Villa back into the Premier League. The Telegraph understands that the club have officially invited him to attend.

William was in attendance at a recent Villa game, as they defeated Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship. He was spotted sitting alongside former striker John Carew, after the pair met whilst in Norway at a royal dinner.

Nevertheless, the Birmingham Mail reports the words William had with his fellow Villa fan at his most recent Royal engagement,

“You’re William? You’re William and you’re a Villa fan? You’ve made my day. Are you going to the play-offs? I’m going to try and watch them next weekend. I’ve been quite nervous watching some of the other games.”

The son of Prince Charles also offered his hand at some football analysis in conversation,

“Fulham are quite good aren’t they?”

The two teams face-off at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening, hoping to reclaim their spots back in the Premier League, in what is viewed the richest game in football. Villa manager Steve Bruce is something of a master at this event, having twice guided Hull City through the Sky Bet Championship play-offs to reach the promised land of the English top flight.
