Steve Bruce provides an update on Aston Villa loan stars

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has given an update on the future on some of his loan players, including Sam Johnstone and Lewis Grabban.

The Villa boss has proclaimed that he would like to secure the services of his loan men on a permanent deal should they reach promotion to the Premier League.

Bruce has masterminded a playoff push at Villa Park, and the Midlanders travel to the capital on Sunday to take on Fulham in the Playoff final.

The loan players at the club have played a big part in their season, and have been influential in helping Villa secure a shot at promotion.

Despite wanting to sign them in the summer, the Villa boss realises that it will be difficult to tie them up on permanent contracts.

“It is going to be difficult, with the loan players we have got,” He said.

“It is fairly evident we are going to have go up to keep the loan players, otherwise it will be a struggle to hang onto them, either financially or whatever division we are in.

“There is still a bit of work to be done. I have to say we have the makings of a very decent squad. The five loan players add to that.

“The loan signings have been instrumental in getting us this far. They have been terrific for us.”

Villa will be hoping to regain top flight football at the second time of asking on Saturday, and promotion could well open the doors for a permanent stay for the loan signings.
