Aston Villa face struggle to keep hold of defender

Aston Villa are not the only interested party in John Terry this summer, as they face a battle with a number of clubs from the Chinese Super League, and the MLS to keep hold of their star man.

According to a report from The Mirror, Terry could play his last game for the club at Wembley on saturday, as his contract expires in the summer.

However, Steve Bruce has reiterated his desire to re-sign the 37 year old who has been a key part of Villa’s squad during their promotion push.

The Villa captain does have a clause in his contract where an extension can be triggered should Villa find themselves playing in the Premier League next season.

Terry played 32 times for the Midlands club this season, and scored one goal which came during their victory over Fulham in October.

The former Chelsea man is yet to make a decision on his future after this season, but he could be persuaded by offers from overseas due to the financial windfall he would receive.

Terry is now coming to the latter stages of his career, and one last season in the Premier League could occur should the Villains beat Fulham at Wembley.

It would surely be the former England defender’s last chance to play in England’s top tier.

Terry has become an instant fan favourite among the Villa faithful and they will be hoping that they can cling on to their man, despite interest from elsewhere.

John Terry has a decision to make this summer, and fans from the Midlands will be hoping he sticks around for one more season at Villa Park.
