Former Aston Villa man heading to AC Milan

Former Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout is being tipped for a move to Italian giants AC Milan this summer, less than a year after he was sold by the Midlands club.

The 25-year-old Frenchman was sold to Calcio A side Fiorentina in July 2017, for a fee believed to be in the region of £7 million, but it is unclear whether or not they agreed a sell-on clause with the Italian side.

If they did, they could be in the money this summer, with Italian media outlet Calcio Mercatio linking Veretout with a move to the San Siro to join Milan.

Gennaro Guttuso is the manager at the Italian giants, and he is understood to be a huge fan of Veretout, with the feeling being shared by the French midfielder.

Jordan Veretout originally joined Aston Villa back in July 2015, for a fee reported to be in the region of £7 million. He impressed during his time in the top flight there, but following Aston Villa’s relegation to the Sky Bet Championship, it seemed that his time at Villa Park was over.

In August 2016, he was loaned back to France, joining Ligue 1 side St Etienne on a year long deal, with the French side having an option to sign him permanently.

Despite being a regular in their starting XI for the 2016/17 season, Veretout did not sign for St Etienne following the conclusion of his loan spell there, and instead opted for a move to Italy.

Veretout is a former France youth international, and he appeared 44 times across four different age groups.
