Leeds United monitoring FA Youth Cup winner

Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United are interested in signing Josh Murphy from fellow second tier side Norwich City, according to Kick Off.

Murphy graduated through to Norwich City youth academy, and was part of the side which famously won the FA Youth Cup in 2013, beating Chelsea in the two-legged final. Murphy scored in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Murphy’s identical twin brother Jacob has already left the East Anglian club, and is currently playing for Premier League side Newcastle United, and reports are suggesting that Josh Murphy could soon be on his way out of his boyhood club.

The 23-year-old signed his first professional deal at the Canaries in January 2013, before making his professional debut for the club in the September of the same year in the Football League Cup match with Watford.

He came on as a second half substitute, and scored a wonderful goal just ten minutes after entering the fray.

Since then, he has gone on to play for Norwich City 85 times, scoring 11 goals. He has also enjoyed loan spells at Wigan Athletic and Milton Keynes.

Leeds United are expecting to have a busy summer as they look to improve on last year’s poor Sky Bet Championship campaign.

After a start that had offered a lot of promise, the Whites faultered, and ended up finishing in 13th place in the table.

This will be manager Paul Heckingbottom’s first transfer window at Elland Road after he replaced Thomas Christiansen back in March, and it is absolutely crucial that he gets it spot on.
