Top 50 Players of the EFL – 3rd: Adama Traore (Middlesbrough)

Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore has been voted by you as the 3rd best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Traore is the 3rd best player in the Football League. This is the first time he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.

You should never dismiss a player that has gone through the Barcelona youth system. Traore had signed for Middlesbrough in 2016 when they had got promoted to the Premier League and his previous side Aston Villa had gone the other way. He had done fairly well for Middlesbrough despite them getting relegated like Villa before them, but with him being relegated two years in a row people forgot how good a player he was. Big mistake.

Being in the Sky Bet Championship was not a downgrade for Traore, it was just a chance for him to have fun. He tore apart a lot of defences in this league and several full-backs are still having nightmares about having to face him. In the 40 appearances he made this season he scored five times, though it is the 10 assists he made that really show how good he was this season. Great performances against the likes of Derby County, Bristol City and Barnsley prove why he belongs this high on this list.

Traore will hope to lead Middlesbrough to promotion next season after losing in the play-offs this year.
