Bristol City want move for Manchester United goalkeeper

Bristol City want to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The 21-year-old shot stopper has impressed on loan at League One side Shrewsbury Town this summer and could be rewarded with a permanent move to the Championship. Henderson’s long-term future at Manchester United is in doubt due to the wide variety of goalkeeping options that they have at their disposal.

He is a target for Bristol City who are in hunt for a new goalkeeper. They have recently released their second choice ‘keeper, Luke Steele, so need to provide another option to Frank Fielding. Lee Johnson sees Dean Henderson as an ideal signing.

Henderson joined Shrewsbury Town last summer and has since played 47 games for them in all competitions. He has been instrumental in Paul Hurst’s side getting to the League One Play-Off final and will be hoping to be a part of a famous promotion next weekend as the Shrews face Rotherham United at Wembley.

The 6ft 3inc goalkeeper joined Manchester United when he was 14, having previously played for Carlisle United. He has never made a senior appearance for the Red Devils but has represented England at U16, U17, U20 and U21 level.

Henderson gained first-team experience prior to joining Shrewsbury during loan spells at Stockport County and Grimsby Town. He has got a bright future ahead of him and would be an impressive signing for Bristol City.
