Bristol City looking north of the border for Joe Bryan’s replacement

Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City are monitoring Aberdeen’s versatile defender Graeme Shinnie, as they prepare to sell star left-back Joe Bryan.

HITC Sport reports that Bryan is let to leave the club in the coming weeks, with a number of Premier League sides said to be interested following some excellent performances this season, particularly in Bristol City’s Capital One Cup run, which saw them reach the Semi-Finals.

Joe Bryan scored the goal that gave them the lead in the Quarter Finals against Manchester United live on Sky Sports, and ever since then he has been linked with a move away from the club.

And it seems that Bristol City have resigned themselves to the fact that they will be losing their left-back this summer, and have turned their attentions to Graham Shinnie, who has been a regular for the Aberdeen side in the Scottish Premier League this season.

Interestingly, Shinnie features mainly as a central midfielder for the Dons, who exceeded all expectations to finish second in the SPL this season, but he been known to play left back before.

That kind of versatility is something that Lee Johnson strongly admires, and he could prove to be an excellent coup for Bristol City if this deal comes off.

The 26-year-old’s performances this season helped him earn a call-up to the Scotland squad back in November, and he has been chosen again ahead of their upcoming friendly matches.

Shinnie has appeared over 100 times for Aberdeen after joining the club from Inverness back in 2015.
