Wolves and Cardiff lead the race to sign relegated striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City have been made the bookies’ favourites to sign Salomon Rondon, who has just suffered relegation with West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies looked destined to drop out of the Premier League for a number of months, but excellent form towards the end of the season had given them hope.

The Midlands side beat Manchester United at Old Trafford, before drawing at home to Liverpool and beating Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it wasn’t to be, and they were relegated after Southampton won at Swansea City.

Relegation for the Baggies was made even worse by the excellent season that their Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers had in the Sky Bet Championship, meaning that the two will be swapping leagues next year.

To make matters worse, it seems that Wolves are interested in signing one of West Brom’s players.

Bookmakers Sky Bet have made the Black country club joint favourites to bring in Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon, who looks set to leave the Baggies this summer.

Wolves are given odds of 4/1, alongside Cardiff City who will also be playing Premier League football next season following their promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.

Rondon arrived in England from Zenit St Petersburg, but he failed to reach the levels that he had during his time in Russia.

That being said, he is still a proven goalscorer, and could be an invaluable signing for either Cardiff or Wolves as they both prepare their squads ready for their Premier League return.

Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle United are all clubs also being linked with a move for the striker at odds of 8/1.
