Aston Villa lining up move for Preston defender

Aston Villa are contemplating a move for Preston North End defender Darnell Fisher.

The Lilywhites player signed for the club from Rotherham at the beginning of the 2017/18 season and has impressed with his performances during the campaign at Deepdale.

Now, according to the Express and Star, Aston Villa are ready to launch a move for the right-back.

Villa boss Steve Bruce has clearly also been impressed with the defender’s showings in the Championship and now the manager is ready to offer Fisher a chance to make the move to Villa Park.

The 24-year old has established himself as a key first-team player at Preston and boss Alex Neil won’t want to let the player leave the club during the transfer window. In fact, the club have offered Fisher fresh terms at the club in a bid to keep him at Deepdale.

However, Aston Villa are prepared to offer what it takes to sign the right-back to replace Alan Hutton at their club. In addition, Steve Bruce’s side have the lure of potentially being able to offer the defender a chance to play in the Premier League for them if they manage to win in the Play-Offs against Fulham.

If the Villa Park side do decide to table a concrete bid for Fisher, he may not be able to turn down the offer from them.

Rotherham let the player join Preston on a free transfer at the beginning of the 2017/18 season. Before that, he played his football in Scotland for Celtic and he also had a spell on loan at St Johnstone.
