Top 50 Players of the EFL – 22nd: Robert Snodgrass (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa winger Robert Snodgrass has been voted by you as the 22nd best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Snodgrass is the 22nd best player in the Football League. This is the first time he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.

It’s no real surprise to see someone like Snodgrass on this list. He has always been seen as a top player and has shown he can perform in the Premier League, never mind the Sky Bet Championship. But after a poor spell with West Ham United, Snodgrass needed a fresh start and heading to Aston Villa was a great place to do it. Even if it meant the massive change from playing in claret and blue to playing in claret and blue. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

And many of Villa’s rivals wanted Snodgrass to be a flop signing, he was anything but. He was a creative force who tore apart a lot of defenders throughout the season with plenty most likely still having nightmares about the Scot. In his 43 appearances, he scored seven goals for the club but his tally of making 14 assists is the more impressive stat which probably had the bigger impact.

Snodgrass’ season is not over yet as he hopes to get Aston Villa promoted by beating Fulham in the Championship play-off final.
