Top 50 Players of the EFL 26th: Ben Pearson (Preston North End)

Preston North End midfielder Ben Pearson has been voted by you as the 26th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Pearson is the 26th best player in the Football League. This is the first time he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.

We’ve already had a chance to talk about how good Alan Browne has been for Preston this season. But the Lilywhites strength in midfield didn’t just come from him, it also came from another midfielder, this one being Ben Pearson. He has always been highly rated ever since coming from the Manchester United academy and this season he showed why some thought he might break into the first team picture at Old Trafford.

What makes Pearson great is the fact he is an all-around midfielder. He can pass with the best of them and was often the distributor-in-chief, being key to many of the team’s attacks. But he can also get stuck in and fans have enjoyed seeing some great challenges from him throughout the season. This season he made 35 appearances and while he did not get on the score sheet, he did make two assists. He finished the season off with a high as well with a man of the match performance against Burton Albion on the final day of the season.

Pearson will hope to push Preston into the Sky Bet Championship play-offs next season.
