Swansea City set to make first signing ahead of Championship return

Swansea City are set to sign Liverpool youngster Yan Dhanda, according to BBC Sport.

The Swans will be in the Championship next season following their relegation from the Premier League. They are currently in the hunt for a new manager after Carlos Carvalhal left them at the end of his contract.

It is expected to be a summer of transition at the Liberty Stadium as the Swans prepare for the return of second tier football. There are set to be a number of comings and goings at the Welsh side but they will kick-start their summer recruitment with the signing of Yan Dhanda.

The 19-year-old can play as either a forward or an attacking midfielder. He will boost Swansea’s attacking options for the next campaign and will be a good long-term option for them.

Dhanda has been a regular for Liverpool’s under-23’s this season but the Reds are willing to let him leave this summer on a permanent basis.

He was born in Birmingham and was the books at West Bromwich Albion as a youngster. He was being tipped for a big future in the game by the Baggies and made the move to Liverpool in December 2015.

Dhanda  will be a shrewd signing for the Swans, who will be looking for an immediate return to the Premier League next season. Prior to their relegation last weekend, the Welsh side had been in the top flight for five years.
