Five Football League players Graham Alexander could sign for Salford City

Former Fleetwood Town and Scunthorpe United boss Graham Alexander has been appointed manager of Salford City. Here are five players he could sign for the non-league club-

Liam McAlinden, Exeter City- Alexander signed the 6ft 1inc striker on loan for Fleetwood Town twice when the striker played for Wolves. The 24-year-old would be a very good signing for Salford in the National League. He has previously had spells at Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town as well as Wolves, Fleetwood and now Exeter.

Danny Andrew, Doncaster Rovers- He played for Alexander at Fleetwood and could become available in the summer after falling down the pecking order at Doncaster. He has bags of experience in non-league after spells at Gloucester City and Macclesfield so would be a decent signing for Salford.

Greg Luer, Hull City- The 23-year-old striker is leaving Hull City this summer on a free transfer and could be targeted by Alexander, who signed him on loan for Scunthorpe United in 2016. Luer has spent time on loan at Port Vale, Scunthorpe, Stevenage and Maidstone United since joining the Tigers in 2015 from Burgess Hill Town.

Terry Hawkridge, Notts County- He is another who Alexander knows from Scunthorpe. He won the National League title with Lincoln City in 2017 and would be a great signing for Salford this summer. The 28-year-old was signed by the Iron from Gainsborough Trinity in 2013.

Rory Watson, Scunthorpe United- The Iron could loan out the promising young goalkeeper in the summer and he would be ideal for Salford to sign to bolster their goalkeeping options in preparation for next season. The former Hull City ‘keeper spent time on loan in the National League with North Ferriby United in the 2016/17 season and was very impressive for them.
