Burton Albion offer new deals for six players

Burton Albion have offered new deals to six of their players, according to the Burton Mail.

Tom Naylor, Damian McCrory, Jake Buxton, Hope Akpan, Lloyd Dyer and Harry Campbell have all been offered new contracts to stay at the Pirelli Stadium in League One next season.

Burton Albion were relegated to the third tier after a tough season in the Championship. However, Nigel Clough is hoping to keep the core of his squad together and want to return to the Championship at the first time of asking next season.

Naylor, Akpan, Buxton and Dyer have all been key players for the Brewers this season and Clough will be hoping that they can tie them down on new deals. There could be other interest in them though so Burton need to get them signed up as soon as they can.

McCrory has spent part of this season on loan at Portsmouth but injury has affected his campaign. He has got experience of playing for Burton in League One and helped them get promoted in 2016. McCrory has played over 150 games for the Brewers.

Campbell, who is a promising goalkeeper, joined the club from Bolton Wanderers in August 2016 and they will be hoping to give him a new deal as he could be one for the future for them.

Burton’s chances of competing at the top end of League One next season could depend on whether these six players sign new contracts.
