Aston Villa fans react to their Play-Off first-leg win over Middlesbrough

Aston Villa have taken a step towards the Championship Play-Off final after a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough yesterday in the first-leg of their semi-final.

Villa will now go into the second-leg at Villa Park on Tuesday a goal up and are now one clean sheet away from a Wembley final. There is a still a long way to go though and Steve Bruce’s side will know that there is still plenty of work to do.

The Midlands side took the lead in the 15th minute courtesy of a header by Mile Jedinak and held on for the rest of the game to earn a valuable result.

Middlesbrough did disappoint on the night and did not test Villa goalkeeper Sam Johnstone too much throughout the whole game. However, with attacking players like Britt Assombalonga and Adama Traore, they will always be a threat and could perform in the second-leg.

Villa may feel they could have scored a few more goals. Robert Snodgrass, who has had an excellent season on loan from Premier League side West Ham United, was brilliantly denied by Boro goalkeeper Darren Randolph when his curling shot looked destined for the bottom corner.

Aston Villa fans will now be confident going into the second-leg and here is how their fans reacted on Twitter to their 1-0 away win against Middlesbrough-
