Derby County manager Gary Rowett has praised his side after they beat Fulham 1-0 to win the first leg of their Playoff encounter.
Cameron Jerome’s first half header was his fifth goal in four games and was enough to separate the two sides.
Fulham hit the bar in the second half, and Scott Carson pulled off a brilliant save to ensure the Rams head to London with an advantage.
Speaking to the Sky Sports cameras, Rowett said “I was very happy with lots of things,
“I thought when we showed quality on the ball we got into really good positions and we were a counter-attacking threat all night.
“We know Fulham are a good side but we were very disciplined and didn’t allow them many chances.
“They had one that hit the bar, but apart from that I thought Curtis Davies marshalled Mitrovic very well.”
Fulham have now lost their last couple of games, after going on a 22 match unbeaten run.
They will still be classed as the favourites, despite going down at Pride Park.
“It’s half-time.” Said Rowett.
“While I am very pleased with the defensive concentration and counter-attacks, we can do it better.
“It will be a tough game down there (Craven Cottage).”
Despite their poor run of form since the turn of the new year, Rowett will look to put that behind them an triumph in the Playoffs.
