Rangers ready to thrash out permanent deal for Forest loanee

Glasgow giants Rangers are believed to have opened initial talks with Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest over a permanent deal for loanee Jason Cummings according to the Daily Record.

The 22-year-old Edinburgh born frontman moved to Ibrox in January on a loan deal until the summer and Cummings has bagged six goals in all competitions for The Gers despite not always playing a key role in the side.

The forward’s long term future with parent club Forest has been left under a cloud with Cummings having been quickly shipped out by The Reds boss Aitor Karanka upon his arrival at The City Ground in January. Cummings only joined Forest from Hibernian last summer but is likely to return north of the border during the close season.

Rangers are believed to have made an approach to Forest to convert Cummings’ loan deal into a permanent transfer and the Ibrox club are reported to be hoping to thrash out a deal for the player which will see them pay less than £1 million for his services.

Cummings made his name with former club Hibernian where he netted 71 goals in 150 appearances in all competitions. The striker was a Scottish Cup winner with the Hibees in 2015/2016 while he helped the club to promotion from the Scottish Championship the following season.
